SIDERES 85
A telescope mounting, no matter of its type, is the heart of every astronomical instrument. Even a very expensive telescope of excellent quality is worthless, when it cannot be guided exactly and when it is prone to vibrations and therefore good results in astrophotography are almost impossible.
That is why - besides general knowledge of the interaction of telescope, mounting / electronics and tripod / stands - a close look at the mounting's mechanics is absolutely necessary. Quality and precision are only achieved by an elaborated construction, the use of the best material and its manufacturing. Unfortunately these features are not evident.
Quality and precision are the key features of the SIDERES 85 mounting.
The development of the mounting began with an in-depth study of various older and modern mounting types and a comparison of their advantages and disadvantages. The ambition was to design a mounting that provides - additionally to the already mentioned precision - a high carrying capacity and transportability at the same time, although the focus lies primarily on the carrying capacity. Thus it is not astonishing that the mounting consists completely of steel, which has been powder coated, to provide a white surface and protection against corrosion. This has the advantage of a very stable and construction and material flexibility and therefore a uniform expansion. It is known, that different materials have distinct thermal expansion coefficients, which lead to problems in handling due to unnecessary friction at different temperatures.
The SIDERES 85 is very solid and stable mounting. It features a very high level of vibration absorption and which makes long exposed astrophotography mere child's play. Worm gears made of bronze and smoothly adjustable friction clutches allow a precise positioning and guiding via step motors and controllers.
The SIDERES 85 fully achieves a suitable relation between telescope and mounting size, therefore providing the most stable and reliable solution for your observatory.
This mount can be combinated almost with every controller like the FS2. A new Sideres Controller is also availlable for an additional amount. Optional you can get a column. The delivery contains the mounting with stepper motors and counterweights.
