Direct Drive Mount DDM85

The DDM85 is ASA's workhorse for professional Astrophotographers and is still suitable for portable use.
ASA's DDM85 mount has already received its laurels from acclaimed astrophotographers world wide. Many of them have completely abandoned extra auto-guiders and therefor don't have to sort through a variety of images any more. Many of our DDM85 series mounts are used in remote set-ups. Like its smaller brother, the DDM85 can be be run on a 12V power supply and powered by a single car battery. Since the DEC can be separated from the REC axis, the DDM85 can still be transported with ease. All power and data cables are internally lead through a large dimensional hollow axle. The mount can also be fixed to an equatorial pier (optional delivery) rendering meridian flips obsolete. Feedback from our clients has shown, that the DDM85 also offers professional services to many academic and research institutions!
The DDM85 series is available in three different models:
BASIC: Carrying capacity 45kg (100 lbs). Rested on a moveable base plate, a fast polar alignment can be conducted using 4 adjustment screws. The screws can easily be fastened by hand and are also big enough to use at night.
STANDARD: Carrying capacity 65kg (143 lbs). The standard uses the DDM85s traditional polar height cradle.
PREMIUM: Carrying capacity 100kg (220 lbs). Used in combination with a custom made equatorial pier, rendering meridian flips unnecessary.
The tracking accuracy is excellent and therefore in most cases one can turn off guiding. This is impressively demonstrated in PEM-PRO-record below. Tracking without correction via autoguider over a period of one hour shows 0,68" peak to peak and 0,18" RMS, respectively (the setup used for this record was: ASA DDM85 and ASA 16N OK3).
